This past month my friend Lindsay contacted me via Facebook and asked if we could get together to use my Silhouette machine and make a baby sleeping sign. She really didn’t have anything in particular in mind so when she came over I ran through a couple of ideas and we went off to our favorite store JoAnn’s to buy the supplies. I recommended buying a piece of pre-cut wood, painting it and then putting the words on the wood via the Silhouette machine.
When we were at JoAnn’s we actually found an area in the store that has little figurines that are ready to take home and glue to your project. Lindsay decided on the Giraffe which I think was an excellent choice! Once we arrived back at my place she painted the sign blue and did the edging in white for a little pop of color. I busted out my Silhouette machine and printed off the letters. When I was ready to transfer the letters over to the sign Lindsay stopped me and asked what I was doing. I was ready to bust out my tweezers and transfer the letters over one by one (I did this on my bible verse project and it took FOREVER). Lindsay told me I was crazy and knew there was a better way to do this so she called up her cousin Beckie!
Once on the phone with Beckie I found out that my machine came with Transfer tape. You literally put the tape over the vinyl, it picks up the letters all in one and you transfer it over to your project. No using tweezers! I couldn’t believe it! Mind you I have had the tape for over a year so it did not work as well as we wanted it to. But now that I know what it is for I will be using it all the time now!
Once dry, we ended up with the final project below! I LOVE it!
Because I knew Lindsay was coming over I decided to give her the present I had been working on for a while. I had stalked looked at her Facebook page to gather pictures of her throughout her pregnancy, talked to her cousin Beckie and obtained pictures of her Maternity shoot as well as her 2nd baby shower, and stole a couple of pictures from other people to make a scrapbook for her. It was a big surprise and she didn’t know it was coming (those are seriously the best kinds of gifts!)! I have to say that she enjoyed it thoroughly and I hope she keeps it throughout the upcoming years! I love the way our friendship has grown and only hope that it continues to get better!
Below are pictures of the scrapbook I gave her!
Yep. Positively love it. I showed my whole family and they loved it too. Definitely an awesome gift! I will treasure it always :)
