Once October hit we decided to take our niece and nephew for another weekend and enjoy all the festive Halloween activities that we could. Our first stop included Scarecrow fest in St. Charles where we walked around the craft fair and looked at all the Scarecrows that were entered into the contest. There were many different themes so it was fun and interesting to see them all. We also took the kids to the carnival they were having and let them enjoy a couple of rides.
After Scarecrow fest we decided to take the kids to Goebberts Pumpkin Patch. A lot of the activities there are free so we enjoyed those while we could. We had plans to take the kids into the zoo area of the pumpkin patch but lucky for us it was the nicest and hottest day ever in October and the pumpkin patch was WAY over crowded. We decided to shop around the store and head back out.
My husband had to work the next day so I took the kids to one more Pumpkin Farm that is right by our house and then brought them back home. It was a great weekend and I always look forward to the next weekend we can have them!
Another event I took part of in October was the 2nd annual Girls Weekend in Minnesota. Because Heather lives up there and Jenny now lives in Iowa it seemed to be the best idea for everyone to meet at Heathers house. Who could resist a free place to stay? Megan, Carrie, and I headed up on a Thursday night right after work and enjoyed our weekend getaway up there. We visited the Mall of America and shopped till we dropped, went to a bar that had bull riding in which some of us took part of, visited the winery for the 2nd year in a row, ate at Chino Latinos which we all love, stopped by another bar for some dancing and more drinking, and had a great time with all of our friends!

Thanks Heather for your hospitality! I am looking forward to next year's Girls weekend!
The last event in October was of course Halloween! The hubby and I did not have any real big plans but we did manage to walk down the street to our friends house to see their place and show off our dog in his costume. Below is a picture of our little hot dog!
Once Halloween was over we were looking forward to our Nephew's birthday and spending Thanksgiving with my Husband's side of the family. Unfortunately, my Husband's mom and dad could not make it out for our Nephew's birthday but we attended it anyway and had a great time. It was held at Chuck E Cheese and was Angry Bird themed. That kid is addicted to Angry Birds like no other!

Once Thanksgiving approached our family gathered at our place for the first time and it was up to me to feed them. I had NEVER cooked a Turkey before and was very thankful that my father-in-law came over early to help me! Because my husband's parents live out of state we also celebrate Christmas on the same day since everyone can get together at this time. Below are some pictures of the kids opening their presents!
Because I have another 362 days to blog about I am going to break up the rest of 2011 into individual posts! Please stay tuned to see how we finished off the year!
